However given the right conditions, the colour can appear to change - e.g. light intensity, direction of light, shadowing effects etc.
It is just a perception because of certain environmental conditions.Does eye color change or it just a perception because of the environment?
Your eye color can actually change. While the genes coding for eye color don't change, they are often not fully expressed at birth. Since blue eyes are caused by a (relative) lack of pigment in the iris, this means that blue eyes can get darker over time. As an example, I recently got a pair of very young kittens, and they originally had very very bright blue eyes. Over time, though, their eyes have been getting progressively darker. Before long, they'll have normal yellow/green cat eyes.
This is caused by increasing expression of the eye color gene and a buildup of pigment within the iris, but the gene itself does not change. It is common very early in life (when there are radical changes in gene expression), but is unlikely to happen later.Does eye color change or it just a perception because of the environment?
Your eye color is coded by your genes. You eye color doesn't change some people usually when they get older get cataracts in their eyes which makes it look cloudy or lighter. Also, babies when they are born usually have a different eye color and as they get older it changes to its permanent color I think by the third month. You might also think that people eye color changes like look blue when they are wearing a blue shirt or green when they are wearing a green shirt, that's just perception and not real.
your eyes get lighter as you get older
